ND Defense Brings Navy Work to West Point

U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly recently joined ND Defense CEO Imtiaz Uddin at our West Point, Mississippi facility as we highlighted a new chapter of growth for ND Defense.
The visit centered on our work with HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding on the future USS Sam Nunn (DDG 133), where ND Defense is manufacturing a helicopter bridge crane for the ship’s aviation handling system. The program expands our work from military ground vehicles into maritime manufacturing while bringing additional skilled defense manufacturing work to West Point.
Our work on the future USS Sam Nunn marks an important step into the maritime sector, but it is only one part of where ND Defense is headed.
We are expanding our defense capabilities in advanced electronics, complex wire harnesses, and uncrewed drone technologies.
These areas build on our decades of experience designing, manufacturing and supporting rugged, mission-critical systems for the U.S. military and allied nations.
As we expand into new technologies and markets, our purpose remains the same.
Everything we build comes back to one mission: supporting and protecting the warfighter.
That mission connects our heritage in tactical and armored vehicles with our growing work across maritime systems, electronics, advanced manufacturing and emerging defense technologies. Every component leaving our West Point facility serves the same purpose: supporting warfighters in the field.
Our growth also reflects the strength of the skilled workforce in West Point and across Mississippi’s Golden Triangle.
Machinists, welders, engineers and technicians from communities throughout the region are helping us expand Mississippi’s contribution to the U.S. defense industrial base.
During the visit, Rep. Kelly spoke about the importance of expanding defense manufacturing beyond the nation’s traditional coastal shipbuilding centers and engaging skilled workforces across the country.
For ND Defense, that means continuing to bring new capabilities and new defense work to West Point while building on the manufacturing expertise already established here.
